While we are fairly new to breeding, we have owned English Springer Spaniels for over five years. We simply fell in love and decided that they are our "forever breed." When we decided to pursue breeding, we invested in quality pups and have been doing a ton of research while we have waited for them to come of age. This is not a hobby for us; this is a passion. Being a high quality breeder is something we take seriously.
Our dogs are raised in a family friendly home. They are with us all the time and are well socialized. We care deeply about them and are dedicated to finding high quality, loving homes for all of our English Springer Spaniel puppies.
All our dogs have been DNA tested for PRA and PRK as well as a full DNA profile.
Whether you are looking for a hunting companion, a running buddy, or just a furry best friend -- English Springer Spaniels are your breed. These dogs are called "velcro dogs" for a reason. They stick to you like glue. These dogs have big personalities, are playful, devoted companions, have a high energy level and a drive to hunt or be active.
Rizzo is a black tri roan who is half field and half bench. This girl is a talker. She loves to greet us with her unique growl of affection.
Zuko is a liver and white pure field bred dog. He is actively hunted and enjoys being physically active. He will settle in for a snuggle after a day out hunting.
Margo is a liver tri roan pure bench female. Margo carries the trait for lemon as well. She has the sweetest temperament of our three springers. She will snuggle all day if you'll have her.
We will be pairing these two in late December/ early January with puppies going home in the spring.
I got my Maisie from Silver State Springers. They were incredible and did everything right. I am a big advocate for adopting a dog and never thought I'd go this route but they were so different than any breeder I'd come across . All the puppies were crate trained and super loved. I highly recommend Silver State for a great experience and a great dog. Maisie is a huge part of our family and we couldn't be happier.
I purchased a male English Springer Spaniel puppy from Jill and Ed in October of 2023. I have to say it was an excellent exchange and experience I hadn’t quite expected. The Bayless’ were very easy to work with and I would highly recommend you consider them if your looking for a great pup and excellent breeders. Jill and Ed were very informative and make sure you have everything you need including the knowledge of the pup and how to take care of him before taking him home. They are picky with whom they home their pups to in order to ensure that person is not only capable but knowledgeable about how to care for the puppy and are a good fit for their clients. They kept me on the shot schedule they had pre established with a local veterinary doctor for obtaining timely vaccines. I live alone and had an upcoming knee surgery a few days after purchasing the puppy and wasn’t sure if I could care for the pup for a few days. They offered to keep and watch him while I recovered. You won’t find that from most breeders. If there was a rating system it would be a clear 10 out of 10. Great transaction and even better follow up. If you’re looking for a great companion and specifically a Springer Spaniel, you should definitely consider the SSS. You won’t find better more caring people.

While both field and bench bred springers are full of personality and intelligence they have different temperaments.
Field bred springers are meant for hunting and pure field bred springers can be difficult as domestic pets. These dogs have a high prey drive, an independent spirit and inexhaustible energy. Our field bred male is a force and has needed far more training than our other ESS.
Bench bred springers are slightly quieter and tend to form deeper human connections. Our pure bench female is a snuggle bug!! They can be gun shy and prefer to be at home with their families.
While we will have some pure field and pure bench lines, our favorite combination is one field bred and one bench bred parent. For us, this creates a pet that can be trained to hunt but ultimately creates a good balance in temperament.
There are several color combinations available in English Springer Spaniels.
The most basic are white and liver, white and black, liver and white and black and white.
Then there are black and white tri and liver and white tri. This means the dogs will have tan eyebrows, jawlines and feet.
Then there are roans this is considered a marking and not a color. This feature can come on any of the above and indicates a blending in the white fur with their primary colors of liver, tan and black. This is our personal favorite!!
There are also black or red tipped sables that have a variation in markings that make the liver markings tipped in red or black.
Lemon is the rarest color and that is essential a reddish brown color and white.
Ticking is just another word for doggy freckles. Heavy ticking means a lot of freckles. To see an example of ticking, look around Zuko's nose.
Our babies are adopted quickly, so reach out to reserve your furever friend or to ask any questions.
